“Great seafood and friendly service in a beautiful Acadian coastal village at the Red Cap. We were seated and had ice water immediately. The dining room is nicely decorated with art for sale, mounted on the wooden plank walls. We started with coffee, wine, and soft drinks, then ordered from the family style menu. The special here is pan fried haddock with lobster sauce, and it was excellent – served with a wedge of lemon and sliced carrot and turnip. My husband had a stuffed baked potato, and I had Caesar salad on the side. My daughter had a well filled club with baked potato, and son in law had a chicken burger, also with stuffed baked potato. Service was fast, and food was hot. The dessert menu is quite extensive. I had good homemade pumpkin pie, and my husband had a delicious chocolate torte. Whipped cream was an option on the desserts. The prices are reasonable, and we noted there is no corking fee if you wish to bring your own wine.”

“The food was top notch. The service was top notch (Nancy) and the restaurant amenities were extremely clean. The food was truly superb. Best Scallops, haddock, lobster sauce on haddock was to die for and I don’t normally enjoy any sauces, best onion rings with equally amazing dip, excellent spinach salad and best best best seafood chowder in Nova Scotia!!! PS we shared, I did not order all of this, LOL. The menue also has nongluten options. I hope to go back one day soon.”

“The Red Cap Restaurant serves some of the best seafood we have ever had. They advertise that they make the best lobster sauce in the world and we agree.
Their signature dish is halibut with lobster sauce, which is great. But.. their seafood crepes are out of this world.”

“I made reservations to stay for my motorcycle trip through NS. I arrived later than expected having just come over on the ferry. When I arrived, after 10pm, It looked like the place was closed up and I was out of luck. But there was a note on the front door welcoming me by name and telling me that the door to my room had been “left open for me”. I was so relieved and so grateful. Thanks for your hospitality and kindness!”

“Mum and I tried the rappie pie and the broiled haddock in the lobster sauce. YUM!! It was my first rappie pie and my mother hadnt had it for about 30 years. It was absolutely delicious! We shared thw two dishes and am I ever glad we did. The haddock in lobster sauce was the best food I have ever eaten. It is very creamy and absolutely delicious. The haddock is perfectly broiled and goes along with the sauce just wonderfully. I didnt think I would like it since im not a huge fish fan and I was hesitant on the lobster sauce, but I promise you will not regret it! We were travelling along then decided we had to go back for dinner! We both had the haddock in lobster sauce again. Lol couldn’t help it. We also had dessert both times. We tried the strawberry shortcake which was our favourite as well as coconut cream pie and the chocolate lava cake which were also amazing! The service was lovely and the people were all nice. Would definitely recommend!!”
